Instructional Scaffolding to Improve Critical Thinking and Clinical Reasoning of Medical Students Team Based Learning in an Online Synchronous Setup

Shifa Center for Professional Excellence (SCOPE) organized in collaboration with Shifa College of Medicine (SCM) organized a workshop on Instructional Scaffolding to Improve Critical Thinking and Clinical Reasoning of Medical Students: Team Based Learning in an Online Synchronous Setup.

 

Dr. Abida Shaheen, Professor & HOD Pharmacology, STMU, Dr. Tatheer Zahra Associate Professor, STMU, Dr. Fahad Azam Associate Professor, STMU, Dr. Shazia Irum Assistant Professor, STMU discussed the team-based learning in medical sector and elaborated the mechanism of two model that can be used for effective learning.

 

They stressed, TBL model is integral in developing students’ knowledge and understanding of basic science concepts, while the CBL model is integral in developing students’ clinical reasoning skills. The strengths of CBL included the development of authentic clinical reasoning skills.
